Emotional Freedom Technique - How It Works
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also referred to as “tapping”, is an evidence-based practice which combines the psychological techniques of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy together with Acupressure. This unique and effective practice is conducted by “tapping” one’s fingers on 12 main acupuncture points. Research shows that stress-deactivating signals are sent to the amygdala and other brain structures while a person is tapping on these acupuncture points and engaging in EFT.
“EFT has met the APA (American Psychological Association) standards as an efficacious treatment for phobias, anxiety, depression, and PTSD…. Over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals, including dozens of clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, pain, and other problems.” (See Source)
