Emotional Freedom Technique - How It Works

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also referred to as “tapping”, is an evidence-based practice which combines the psychological techniques of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy together with Acupressure. This unique and effective practice is conducted by “tapping” one’s fingers on 12 main acupuncture points. Research shows that stress-deactivating signals are sent to the amygdala and other brain structures while a person is tapping on these acupuncture points and engaging in EFT.

“EFT has met the APA (American Psychological Association) standards as an efficacious treatment for phobias, anxiety, depression, and PTSD…. Over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals, including dozens of clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, pain, and other problems.” (See Source)

YES and YES!! Charlene teaches E.F.T. to children and teens regularly. This subtle technique decreases stress levels very quickly among youth once they learn how to “tap” and when to use the skill. A recent study, published in February 2017, also concluded that “EFT is an efficacious intervention to significantly reduce anxiety for high-ability adolescents.” This study was conducted with students across ten different schools in two different States in the United States.
