Emotional Freedom Technique - How It WorksEmotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also referred to as “tapping”, is an evidence-based practice which combines the psychological techniques of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy together with Acupressure. This unique and effective practice is conducted by “tapping” one’s fingers on 12 main acupuncture points. Research shows that stress-deactivating signals are sent to the amygdala and other brain structures while a person is tapping on these acupuncture points and engaging in EFT. “EFT has met the APA (American Psychological Association) standards as an efficacious treatment for phobias, anxiety, depression, and PTSD…. Over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals, including dozens of clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, pain, and other problems.” (See Source) Note: Charlene Savoie is a member of the Alliance Professional of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists (A.P.N.N.) and a member of Association for the Advancement of Meridian Energy Techniques (AAMET). Emotional Freedom Techniques (E.F.T.) is an evidence-based practice in which you combine psychological techniques of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy with Acupressure. The Acupressure is applied with the use of one’s fingers to tap on 12 main acupuncture points. Tapping on acupressure points as you focus on an emotion, event or physical sensation including pain allows the emotion to be released from your body.
